Led and Zener Diode Tester

This device displays the forward voltage of an LED or Zener diode. Assembly is straightforward—use the included wiring diagram for reference.

Safety Warning:
Li-Po batteries can be hazardous if mishandled. Always use a proper charger board, observe correct polarity, and never short-circuit, overcharge, or leave the battery charging unattended. Discontinue use if the battery becomes hot, swollen, or damaged.

IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH HANDLING LI-PO BATTERIES, SEEK ADVICE FROM A KNOWLEDGEABLE TECHNICIAN. IMPROPER USE CAN CAUSE FIRE OR INJURY.

Components required:

  • 2 × M2 × 5 mm hex cap screws
  • 1 four-digit voltmeter with isolated 3-wire power supply
  • 1 boost converter (XL6009)
  • 1 Li-Po charger board
  • 1 × 10 kilo-ohms resistor (1/2 W)
  • 1 Li-Po battery (~600 mAh)
  • 1 tactile switch (12 × 12 mm, 5 mm button height)
  • 2 alligator clips (red for +, black for –)
  • Assorted wires (red and black recommended)
  • Heat-shrink tubing
  • Glue (hot glue recommended)

Set the boost converter output to approximately 30 V. Include a strain relief for the probes, such as a knot in the wire. Glue the battery in the back of the Electronic Layer.
