SBC Server Case
Description
This is a modular SBC or Development Board enclosure. Its base design principle is you stack on top of each other plates that hold various devices such as Raspberry PI, Arduinos, ESP32, hard drives, etc. You can customize it the way you like. You may need some plates not provided yet. Feel free to contact me if some plates are needed.
It can contain up to 14.4 cm of devices in height. The plate size is 12 cm by 15 cm. The plates are held by M3 male-female brass standoffs. The fan is 120 mm by 120 mm and can up to 30 mm tick.
I designed it with two goals in mind:
- A single external power supply
- A single cooling fan.
The device showned in the pictures holds 3 Raspberry PIs, and two XL4005 buck converters to supply the Raspberry PIs. On more buck converter along with another Raspberry PI can be added. It is powered by a 12V, 5A power brick. The fan is a 12 V, 120 mm computer fan. My server case contains a firewall, a DNS and DHCP server and my IOT management system.
The BOM for my device is:
Power subsystem:
- 1 x female 5.5/2.5 power jack, 10 mm in diameter (up to 13 mm).
- 1 x washer to hold the 10 mm power jack.
- 2 x XL4005 based buck converters
- 1 x 4 by 2 terminal block
- 2 x terminal block jumper strips
- 3 x micro USB male connector kits
- 1 x micro USB to type C adapter
- 4 x #4-40 bolts, 3/8" in length
- 4 x #4-40 nuts
- 2 x #8 bolts, 1/2" in length
- 2 x #8 nuts
- 4 x 20 mm M3 standoffs
- some wires
Cooling subsystem:
- 1 x 120 mm x 25 mm 12V computer fan
- 4 x #8 bolts, 1-1/4 inch long
- 4 x #8 nuts
First 2 bottom Raspberry PIs:
- 8 x 25 mm M3 standoffs
- 4 x M2 bolts, 10 mm in length
- 4 x M2 nuts
Top Raspberry PI:
- 4 x M3 screws, 6 mm in length
- 2 x M2 bolts, 10 mm in length
